I am so excited to share this brand new song, “Good Old Days”! Since beginning my motherhood journey eight years ago with the birth of my daughter Mary Carson, I have been inspired to write songs about my family, my kids, my life, parenthood and all the things I’m learning along the way. This song “Good Old Days”, was one of the first songs I wrote after the birth of my son Brooks, when he was a newborn and my daughter was four years old. It was a big adjustment going from one child to two, being sleep deprived and feeling like I was juggling so many things at a time. Even though that season was challenging and exhausting, it was also one of the sweetest times of our lives, watching our daughter fall in love with her baby brother, all the family snuggles, and hearing their cute little voices and giggles and footsteps pitter-pattering up and down the hallway. I remember thinking so often, in my foggy sleep-deprived mind, “Man, these are the days that one day we’re gonna look back and say ‘Those really were the good old days’ … so I better soak this up before it’s gone.” I love the production on this song – so much fun, such a catchy guitar hook, easy listening vibes, the kind of song you can blast in the car with your kiddos as they sing along in the backseat! Enjoy!

Verse 1
Mouth open wide at me
Eyes shining bright to see
Your tiny little nose is all scrunched up
A high-pitched, gentle squeal
Your laugh sounds like a sealI pinch your sides and now you have the hiccups
Yeah, these are the days I’ll look back and say:
Those were the good old days
Chorus
It’s like magic every morning
Your tiny hand I’m holding
Since you arrived I’ve never been the same
You’re an angel sent from Heaven
Greatest gift God’s ever given
You’ve wrecked my life in the most amazing ways
Yeah, these are the good old days
Verse 2
Stubby legs bent to your chest
Squishy feet I can’t help but kiss
Your soft and fuzzy hair sticks straight up
Those chubby, chipmunk cheeks
On the sweetest face I’ve seen
My heart has never known this kind of love
Yeah, these are the days I’ll look back and say:
Those were the good old days
Chorus
Bridge
You and sister are Best Buds
The closest friends there ever was
I’ll always remember this because:
Final Chorus
It’s like magic every morning
Man, I must be dreaming
Since you arrived, I’ve never been the same
You’re an angel sent from Heaven
Greatest gift God’s ever given
You’ve wrecked my life in the most amazing ways
And I know I’ll never be the same
Yeah, these are the good old days
The days are long, but the years are short
You are what I’m living for
These are the good old days
