About Shelly E. Johnson
In a world where the modern-day Church is struggling to experience true unity in worship, Shelly E. Johnson is a worship leader & songwriter with a heartfelt combination of musical excellence and spiritual authenticity who is passionate about bringing generations together in worship. Shelly is a worship leader at North Point Community Church, a 36,000 strong, multi-campus church in Metro Atlanta, Georgia. She is married to the love of her life Jack and a mom to 4-yr-old daughter Mary Carson and baby boy Brooks.
Most well-known for writing the powerful worship anthem “Power of the Cross”, which has been recorded by Natalie Grant, Steve Green and is being used in churches worldwide, Shelly has served as worship leader alongside Beth Moore, Tony Nolan, Andy Stanley, and toured North America with renowned Irish Hymn-writers Keith & Kristyn Getty.
Christmas is Beautiful
One of the musical highlights of this Deluxe Edition is a fun, rockabilly version of the classic song “Jingle Bells”, featuring a duet with Shelly and Chris Cauley (former NBC’s The Voice contestant). Also due to high demand from her fans, Shelly has written a brand new classical piano solo of a beloved classic, “Carol of the Bells”. Also included is a newly produced Christmas version of her modern hymn, “From Heaven’s Glory” that was featured on the 2017 Christmas Tour, as well as a brand new re-write of “Away In A Manger”. Shelly and her band will be launching the 3rd Annual Christmas Tour this coming December 2019.
“When I was 14, my daddy died a week after Christmas. Because of that, our family endured many sad Christmases in the years that followed. It’s been an amazing journey watching God restore joy to our family over the years and once again making Christmas beautiful. I know Christmas can be a hard, sad time for so many people, so my hope for my new album Christmas Is Beautiful is that it will be a fresh reminder of the faithfulness of God,” explained Shelly.
Worship music is not a career choice, it’s a calling, and it’s one that Worship Artist Shelly E. Johnson has embraced with joyful surrender. She has a gift for writing songs that can lift a congregation closer to the Throne and a heart for serving God that makes her one of the most anointed young worship leaders of her generation.
Mosaic of Grace
After releasing her independent album Mosaic of Grace in 2009, Shelly signed her first publishing and recording deal with LifeWay Worship in February 2011. Her debut EP Power of the Cross released in August 2012, in partnership with Maranatha! Music, with the lead single “All Things Beautiful” impacting Christian radio formats.
Your Kingdom Come
In September 2014, Shelly’s full-length worship album Your Kingdom Come released worldwide through LifeWay Worship, in partnership with Elevate Entertainment.
Christ Be Everything Live
Less than six months later, in June 2016, Shelly released her first live worship album, Christ Be Everything (LIVE), recorded and filmed at 1971 Sounds in Atlanta, GA.
One of Shelly’s most powerful songs, “Home”, released July 2018. It’s a soul-stirring anthem with a cinematic flair that reminds all of us how vital it is to find our identity in Our Heavenly Father alone, that He is the One who gives us a home, a place to belong, a place to rest and be truly free.
In September of 2018, Shelly penned what has become by far her most emotional and heart-stirring song to date entitled “Heaven Someday”. It was written just days after she and Jack lost their baby due to miscarriage. The song and video has touched tens of thousands of hearts, bringing comfort to women and families who’ve experienced the same heartbreaking loss.
Dream Come True
In the spirit of wanting to write songs about real life and capture the everyday moments in which Shelly finds herself on a regular basis, she crafted this song, “Dream Come True” about her daughter Mary Carson. With a sonic landscape that is reminiscent of a Disney princess power ballad, this musical masterpiece beautifully conveys the wonder, joy, sweetness, innocence and beauty Shelly has experienced becoming a mom and seeing the world through her daughter’s eyes.
Shelly spends her time writing songs, serving as a worship leader at her home church, and traveling the country striving to build the Kingdom of God through her music. Shelly and her husband Jack have been married for fourteen years and currently live in Milton, GA, along with their daughter Mary Carson and baby boy Brooks.
